Thank you so much for visiting Mai Pilates.


I’m Mai, short for Maya! Born and raised in Austin, TX, I’ve been surrounded by Pilates from a young age and have been a certified instructor teaching Pilates in a studio setting for 9+ years.


I found my passion for Pilates when I was injured from a lumbar muscle strain. Pilates taught me that whether our bodies are injured or not, there is always a safe way to move and become stronger from the inside out. It changed my life!


My Education & Background


I started my Teaching Career with completing a Peak Pilates Mat Certification. After working at a gym teaching Group Mat classes I realized I wanted to focus more on 1:1 clients with a holistic view to Pilates. I returned to Peak Pilates where I received my Comprehensive Pilates Certification which included a deeper study of anatomy and use of the Pilates Apparatuses. While I really valued my certification, I still felt something was missing from my training; I sought out a Mentor who could help me get a deeper sense of teaching Pilates with the goal to heal, I met the lovely Shannon Rashap who agreed to work with me every week for a year. She has spent a lot of time studying the human body in more than the sense of Pilates but various types of body work and healing. She is truly incredible and opened my eyes to view the body as more than just muscles, but emotions, connection, and inner harmony. I took this experience with me as I started teaching in a Boutique Studio where I taught small Reformer classes and 1:1 Sessions. Many of my clients were coming from their Physical Therapy to Pilates, I truly enjoyed teaching my sessions.


Because of the Pandemic I was no longer able to teach in a studio. I wanted to continue sharing my passion with the world so Mai Pilates Virtual Studio was born. Starting Dec 2023 Mai Pilates will now be a Hybrid Virtual and Physical studio. My Physical studio will now offer Reformer 1:1 sessions. I hope you will allow me to join you in your personal healing through Movement using Pilates.


What can you expect from a session with me?



My background focuses on a holistic care and increased function on a personal level. I customize my teaching based on each client and their individual needs. My sessions are known to be very personalized and unique in the way I approach movement. As I continue to work with you I will learn best how your body responds to movement and can tailor your sessions to you.


In my sessions I use my understanding of Myofascial Meridians to help my clients heal the body from the inside out.


All levels of fitness are welcome. Pilates is a practice that can benefit everyone. By learning how to listen to and move our bodies correctly, we can all increase our quality of life.
